CHILE Paragliding in Santiago My first

Since childhood I wanted to fly. I had the idea of wanting to skydive for many years , but over the years this desire has changed . Perhaps as the years pass I’ve been turning a little more cautious and after certain episodes I understood that life is much more fragile than I thought .

The pleasure of being away from Earth is incomparable. Every time I take a plane I remain fascinated by the feeling on being separated by a few hours of the heart, amazed by the stunning views of the clouds and looking down things attached t earth.

So this is how I came to make my First Flight Paragliding.

One of the people with more experience doing paragliding in Chile is Chile Parapente, so I decided to do my first flight paragliding with them.

In an area of Santiago, Chile; known for its natural environment , nestled between the mountains and the Maipo River exists the Flight Center  of Las Vizcachas , within the Geo Aventura Park where there are all the amenities to wait for your flight paragliding.paraglidingIf you go with more people they will also have a pleasant wait. There is a pool and playground, and even a platform for bungee jumping !

I was impressed with the large number of people flying paragliding and have a close-knit community among them . paragliding-0068There are over 300 people involved in this activity in Chile, but those who perform it are passionate about flying . There are men and women who have come to know the sport and attend national meetings to share with this other passion. paraglidingI discovered a new world for me, still others do acrobatics paragliding, just beautiful.

I made a tandem first flight paragliding accompanied by Carlos Cueto, who has 21 years of experience doing paragliding. When someone knows much of an issue is noticed, and was pleasantly surprised when people asked me who had flown indicated their respects to Carlos.

My First Flight Paragliding was pure pleasure!

The Flight Paragliding starts from the top of a hill about 290 meters height at which they bring in a truck specially dedicated to it. Once the jumping platform will prepare for the flight paragliding, putting the harness , helmet and will give the necessary instructions for having a secure and pleasant experience.paragliding-

It is very simple to follow the instructions were clearly given . You just have to run a few steps forward , others back and when you run forward again you’re on the air! I had no unpleasant feeling at this time as I thought it might be , you just sit in your harness and enjoy the ride.paragliding-4435

It’s amazing how everything becomes silent and you can only hear the sound of the wind … and your guide. Yes, you can talk in the air! Thus, your guide will ask all the time as you feel during flight, if you want to live a little more intense experience and make some turns. I tolerated a few seconds , my body is not used to this yet. I was impressed with the wind , with the possibility of being close to where the birds fly with such a small structure.paragliding-4423

One of my biggest fears was time to get grounded again , I imagined would be a huge impact on the ground.

I was waiting for that moment when we were on the ground. The landing is very smooth and you just have to stand on your harness and walk when your feet touch the ground, nothing strong or violent.

One thing I really liked is that they ask you take a memory card, then the whole experience is documented by a camera Go Pro you lend to record the experience. Then you can just enjoy and not be worried about your own camera being damaged or falling during the flight, you only have to worry on keep enjoying and smiling.

Flight Paragliding with ChileParapente was an excellent experience, their instructors are all over 10 years of experience in the area and are very professional. All pilots are accredited by the General Direction of Civil Aviation and Pilots are licensed instructors.paragliding-4431

  1. Wow..! I’m really impressed, this looks great! And 60 USD? That’s nothing! How long were you up in the air? I wish we had done this when we were in Santiago a few months ago! It must have been amazing with the Andes surrounding you..

    • It was really beautiful views Veronika! If you fly for the first time they take you around 15 minutes…they say after that there’s lot of possibilities to get dizzy…and nobody wants that, lol. It’s more than enough and I really enjoyed my first flight!!!

    • lol! I was listening some of those stories from the instructors in this place. About some people going to paragliding in random places and doing some “emergency”landings in people’s houses. It is really funny and stunning views! Plus the feeling of freedon is so good. I’ve felt peaceful after landing 😉

  4. Is this your first time doing an air sport? I’m just wondering how it compares to sky diving or bungee/.

    • Hey Connor! Was my very first time, so can’t give you any comparison with skydive or bungee…maybe soon! Have you done those? I’m pretty sure might be super exciting! I’m kind of scared about the bungee idea, but would love skydive for sure 😉

  6. I’m curious, how much did this cost and how much does that compare to less adventurous sorts of tourist activities in Chile?

    • Hi SLioy, thank’s for reading me!
This didn’t cost me money as it was a sponsored flight with the company. Anyway, their prices are good to the local market, around 60USD. Consider, Chile is NOT a cheap country, and normally many activities are little bit pricy. There’s different options and also lots of free stuff (aka trekkings/touring the city/visiting city parks) to do within the country also, just matter of taste what to do/choose.
